All seats are reserved. Doors to the casino’s event pavilion open at 7:30 p.m.; concert at 8:00 p.m.

Legendary for their R&B, Funk and Soul-infused melodies, The Stylistics’ fans will surely want to sing along to the band’s famous hits on their current U.S. concert tour including: “Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart),” “You Are Everything,” “Betcha by Golly, Wow,” “I’m Stone in Love with You,” “Break Up & Make Up” and “You Make Me Feel Brand New.”

Formed in 1968, vocalists from two Philadelphia soul groups, The Monarchs and The Percussions, merged together to create the band that would later be known as “the Philly group with the sweet love songs.” The Stylistics’ launched into superstardom when they were signed by Avco Records and, soon after, were introduced to producer/songwriter Thom Bell. Their first self-titled album received staggering reviews and broke barriers by releasing an unprecedented six singles to the airwaves. With much credit to Bell, the Stylistics’ first 12 releases topped the U.S. R&B charts during the early 70s.

After great success with their spring 1974 single, “You Make Me Feel Brand New,” the band members decided to make drastic adjustments by hiring a new songwriter/producer, changing their overall sound and signing with a new record label. After four years will Bell, The Stylistics’ hired new producer/songwriter Van McCoy, who lead the musicians on a path of softer tones. In 1976, they were transformed into international superstars when they signed a recording contract with H&L Records.

Many UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fans will be watching, and a local casino in South Florida is throwing a viewing party.

Mardi Gras Casino not only is dealing with the big party in New Orleans that bears its name this week, but it is also preparing for what could be a legendary fight, one that could alter the future of the heavyweight division in the sport.

The under-card may have some excitement, but it is Nogueira and Velasquez that will pull patrons of Mardi Gras away from the slot machines late Saturday night.

At 10PM, Mardi Gras will tune in on its 16′ HD screen. Available during the festivities will be a $10 UFC food buffet.

Seating is limited for this viewing, and will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. No cover will be charged, so anyone that is enjoying the slots and poker at the casino is welcome to watch the mixed martial arts fight.

UFC 110 was the second fastest sellout in UFC history and that could have a lot to do with the location of the event. While most of the UFC events are held in the US, this one is being held in Sydney, Australia. The country’s fans do not get to see many of these events live, and they might be doing some investigative work into the sport that has taken the US by storm.

The main event is a match between the Brazilian legend, Nogueira, and the undefeated Velasquez. As was the case years ago with boxing, this top match is too close to call. Nogueira has the reputation of being a warrior who can withstand an onslaught and still come out on top. He proved he is worthy of the heavyweight division when he beat Randy Couture at UFC 102.

Velasquez, on the other hand, must prove to his doubters that he can handle moving into the heavyweight division. Although he is undefeated, this is his first fight as a heavyweight, and all eyes will be on his every move. At his best, Velasquez can dominate a match.

Anyone looking for more information on the viewing party for UFC 110, can contact Mardi Gras Casino at 954-924-3200. The casino is located at 831 North Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
