Florida Gambling Compact Passes Senate, 29-9
The long negotiations for the Florida Gambling Compact are nearing completion. The state Senate has passed the bill and it will go to the state House and then to the Governor for approval next week.
Record Gaming Money Spent Lobbying Florida Congress
A record amount of money was spent by gambling companies lobbying the Florida legislature in 2009, over $5 million, in fact. Even more is expected to be spent in 2010 as the legislature heats up debate over expanded gambling.
