The largest jackpot won at Seminole Casino Brighton had been $129,882.45 in July, 2006. In October 2008 a local 69-year-old great grandmother won $79,000 on a Forbidden Treasures progressive slot machine at the casino located in Okeechobee.

Like other progressive gaming machines, that machine is linked to all North American Indian casinos including the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s seven casinos. Progressive machine jackpots increase each time a game is played at the linked casinos. All seven Seminole Tribe of Florida casinos now also offer Las Vegas-style slot machines.

William W. and his wife are regular players at Brighton Seminole Casino and also frequent flyers to Las Vegas and Biloxi casinos. But they had never won a jackpot of this size. They told casino officials that they are going to pay off some of their bills with the “Instant Fortune” win and enjoy the rest.

The Seminole Casino Brighton is a 27,000-square-foot casino with 240 slot and gaming machines, a 10-table poker room, and 500 high-stake bingo seats, with full service restaurant and lounge. Its warm and friendly staff, ultra-modern air-conditioning system, clean atmosphere, and rewarding casino promotions are a welcome alternative to big city gaming.

The Seminole Casino Brighton is located in the Brighton Indian Reservation, 17735 Reservation Road, Okeechobee, Florida, 34974. For more information, call toll- free (866) 2-Casino or 863-467-9998. Visit www.seminolecasinobrighton.com.

Richard K won $74,854 when his Straight Flush to the 5 was beaten by a Straight Flush to the 7 held by Howard E., who took home $44,918. The eight remaining players at the table each won $3,742.

The exclusive six-casino approach to larger, more frequent bad beat jackpots has paid players nearly $2.3 million to date. The previous jackpot at the Seminole Coconut Creek property came on March 30 for $180,393. Their Mega Jackpot payouts total $330,101 so far.

A poker bad beat occurs when an apparently unbeatable hand loses to a better hand. Fifty percent of the Seminole Mega Bad Beat prize pool is awarded to the qualifying losing hand; 30 percent to the qualifying winning; and 20 percent divided among the remaining players.

Here’s how all of the winnings have broken down:

SEMINOLE CASINOS’ MEGA BAD BEAT JACKPOT HITS, AS OF May 10, 2010.

- Jan. 3: Roderick Jones’ won $182,705 with a 10-high Straight Flush in Clubs, beaten by Harvey Langer’s King-high Straight Flush in Clubs at Seminole Casino, Hollywood. Langer took home $109,622. The remaining seven players at the table each won $10,440.

- Jan. 5: Wesley P. won $73,680 with his four Kings beaten by a Heart Royal Flush held by Keith E. at Seminole Hard Rock, Tampa. Keith E. won $44,208. The seven remaining players each won $4,211.

- Feb. 9: Jonathan Hernandez took home a cool $183,264 with his four 10s, beaten by Terry Alan Baglama’s Royal Flush, also at Seminole Hard Rock, Tampa. Baglama won $109,959. The seven remaining players each won $10,473.

- Feb. 27: Michelle Knight of Plantation, Fla. was the big winner of $148,675 when her four Jacks were beaten with a Straight Flush by Jenny Sokol of Margate, Fla., who took home $89,205 for her cards dealt at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood. The remaining seven players at the table won $8,496 each.

- Mar. 21: Gregory H. of Tampa was the big winner of $142,905 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa when his quad Jacks were beaten by a Diamond Straight Flush by Pankeo L. of St. Petersburg, Fla. She took home $85,743. The remaining eight players won $ 7,146 each.

- Mar. 30: Evan Rosoff of Boca Raton, Fla. won $90,196 at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek when his Jack-high Straight Flush was barely beaten with a King-high Straight Flush by Itzkhak F., also from Boca Raton, who took home $54,117. The remaining eight players at the table won $4,510 each.

- April 9: Adewale Adeyemi of Pembroke Pines won $86,727 at Seminole Casino Hollywood with a losing hand consisting of four 10s. The winning hand held by 19-year-old Kyle Carino of Cooper City was a Straight Flush in Hearts 7- Jack, netting him $52,038. The remaining eight players at the table won $4,337 each.

- April 26: Jean Zamor of Fort Lauderdale won the Mega Bad Beat Jackpot of $104,264 at Seminole Casino Hollywood with a losing hand of four Jacks.
- May 1: Christopher Chitwood from Cape Coral, Fla hit the jackpot of $62,460 when his Queen-high Straight Flush was beaten by a Diamonds Royal Flush held by Lynda Wallace of Tampa. She took home $37, 476. The seven remaining players at the table each won $3,570.

- May 8: Richard K. won $74,854 when his Straight Flush to the 5 was beaten by a Straight Flush to the 7 held by Howard E. He took home $44,918. The eight remaining players at the table each won $3,742.

“This is the ninth Seminole Mega Bad Beat Poker Jackpot awarded and the second one this month,” said Jeffrey Hook, senior vice president of marketing, Seminole Gaming. “In fact, our six-casino approach to more frequent bad beat winning has resulted in two Mega Jackpots each month this year,” he added.

The Seminole Mega Bad Beat Jackpot was launched on Dec. 1, funded by a $1 contribution from each pot of $10 or greater at the poker rooms in six Seminole casinos: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Hollywood, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tampa, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Seminole Casino Immokalee, Seminole Casino Brighton, and Seminole Casino, Hollywood.

Once it is won, the jackpot immediately resets at $100,000; something done only at Seminole casinos in Florida. Seminole Casino, Immokalee has its own unique payout system, whereby each live poker player in their casino at the time of a Seminole Mega Bad Beat hit receives $100, no matter where it hits.

The Seminole Mega Bad Beat Jackpot rules are straightforward: Only the top two hands at the showdown are eligible and both hands must be the best possible combination of five cards. The minimum losing hand is four 10s. At least four players must be dealt for the table to qualify. Multi-table tournaments are excluded. Single table tournaments are eligible until fewer than four players remain. Players must play their hands independently. Management reserves the right to declare a jackpot null and void due to any irregularities and/or collusion, and its decisions are final.

“I was really excited,” said the winner, who wished to remain anonymous. “This changes everything for me. There are a lot of good things I can do now.”

Two other people have also had that life changing experience recently. On October 17th of last year, a $1,028,215 jackpot was hit on the Megabucks Video MegaJackpot game. Less than a month earlier, on September 29th of 2009, another player became the first player ever to win the Megabucks MegaJackpot progressive top prize. That player walked away with $1,110,779.

The jackpots at all of the Seminole casinos have been growing astronomically over the past year. The games are linked together, and with gambler participation at an all-time high, the jackpots are rapidly rising.

Even card players now have a shot at a massive jackpot no matter which Seminole casino they frequent. The poker rooms at the Seminole casinos have linked their bad beat jackpots, and the result has been bad beats that have topped six figures on a consistent basis.

“I have noticed an increase in poker players since they (the Seminoles) linked the bad beat jackpots,” said Danny Jerry, a player at the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino. “It has made for a better playing experience, especially at times during the day when action at the poker room used to be a little slow.”
